JMDMT #1114 Microfossils of Cyanobacteria in Carbonaceous Meteorites
Duration: 1:28
The James M. DuPont Meteorite Collection - The Nuevo Laredo trend is a fractional crystallization trend emanating from the main group of basalts rich in incompatible elements such as La, Hf, Ta and Th, and with elevated FeO and Sc contents. Two Antarctic eucrites have these characteristics; EET 87542 and LEW 85305. Neither of these eucrites show evidence for Antarctic alteration of their trace element contents. LEW 85305 has anomalously low incompatible trace element (REE, Ta, Th) contents for its high Sc content. Either LEW 85305 is unusually poor in incompatible elements, or our sample underrepresented trace element-rich mesostasis material. EET 87542 is intermediate in composition between Vetluga and Lakangaon. Cumulate eucrites: Two eucrites are cumulates; EET 87548 and EET
